FOLK punk icon Frank Turner is returning to the hardcore scene where he first made his name with his side project, Möngöl Hörde.
The band – featuring Turner on vocals, The Sleeping Souls’ Matt Nasir on baritone guitar and former Million Dead drummer Ben Dawson – will be at Manchester Academy 2 on January 26.
Möngöl Hörde were last seen at Reading Festival in 2014 and it was uncertain whether the trio would come back for more.
Prayers, dreams and tweets have now been answered as the Hörde take advantage of Turner’s brief downtime between tours and studio work.
Turner started his music career in the hardcore band Million Dead before he found major success as a solo artist.
Since then the 36-year-old has always wanted to return to his roots and so Möngöl Hörde emerged in 2012.
The band released one of 2014’s most twisted and ferocious albums with their self-titled debut before Turner started writing and recording his sixth solo album, Positive Songs For Negative People.
