BIRCHWOOD band Man and The Echo are being given the chance to play on the biggest stage in their hometown as part of Independent Venue Week.

The four-piece, who perform pop rock with a political edge, will be joined at Parr Hall by Pacific, a band with members from Northwich and Warrington who have been backed by BBC broadcaster Mark Radcliffe.

Completing the line-up on February 3 are Lymm’s Delphina Kings, St Helens’ Weekend Wars and The Ambersons from Orford.

Independent Venue Week is a week-long celebration of small music venues around the UK and a nod to the people that run them.

A spokesman said: “These venues give artists their first experience of playing live in front of an audience and for fans, somewhere to get up close to artists that one day, may well be playing stadiums and festival main stages.

“Supported using public funding by Arts Council England, Independent Venue Week brings together these venues along with breaking and established artists, promoters, labels, media, bloggers and tastemakers to create a nationwide series of gigs.”

These venues are the backbone of the live music scene in this country and Independent Venue Week wants to recognise all that they have done to create some of the most memorable nights of the past so they can continue to do the same in the future.

Man and The Echo recently performed at RivFest, a festival at Priestley College in memory of Viola Beach guitarist River Reeves.

The left-wing musicians are currently working on their second album fuelled by Brexit, the Trump presidency and the Tories propped up by the DUP.
