FORMER Beautiful South singers Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott will be playing at Delamere Forest on June 8.

The pair's latest album, Crooked Calypso, charted at number two making it their highest release as a duo following the top five records, What Have We Become, and Wisdom, Laughter and Lines.

Heaton, who has 10 million album sales under his belt, first entered the public eye in the early 80s as frontman of Hull-based indie pop group The Housemartins. The line-up also included Norman Cook before his Fatboy Slim days.

In 1988 Heaton formed The Beautiful South, who released 10 successful albums. Jacqui Abbott was lead vocalist in The Beautiful South from 1994 to 2000 and she sang many of their signature hits including Rotterdam, Perfect 10, Don’t Marry Her and Dream A Little Dream.

The Forest Live gigs will see Heaton and Abbott, whose Parr Hall show earlier this year sold out in minutes, play material from their albums as a duo and songs from The Beautiful South and the Housemartins.

Ahead of the show, their special guest will be Billy Bragg, who was recently in Warrington to headline RivFest at Priestley College.

Tickets cost £33.50 plus a £3.85 booking fee. They go on sale at 9am on Friday. Call 03000 680400 or visit forestry.gov.uk/music
