I AM very pleased to say that partnerships have been struck to have more emerging artists from Warrington played on the airwaves and through the terraces.

Behind the scenes I’ve been working with both Radio Warrington and Warrington Wolves to champion bands from the town like Slydigs.

Radio is a great opportunity to discover new artists and to share in experiences, and after 10 years servicing the town, it’ll be great to hear grassroots bands being played throughout the week on Radio Warrington.

Black Pulp have recently been given some exposure through this opportunity. Their music was played on match day at Warrington Town FC. The team won, so naturally we are accepting it helped!

Plans are in the early stages to give fans the chance to choose which song they hear at each Wolves home game, starting with Hull on Saturday. If you would like to submit your music for any opportunities, please go to the website to find out more.

We will be playing Slydigs pre-match and it is perfect timing after they were recently announced as this year’s Warrington Music Festival headliner.

After a little while away, and following a European and American tour with iconic band, The Who, I know they are going to be fantastic.

There are many new bands on the lineup which I look forward to checking out live for the first time.

Meanwhile, it was disappointing to hear that The Brewhouse has shut its doors.

The Buttermarket Street venue was one of the only places you could be guaranteed to experience live music on both a Friday and Saturday night.

If it reopens, I hope more is done to promote the events taking place.

Fear not though because elsewhere there are three gigs to look out for, all at different venues in the town.

First of all is a night for the hard rock fans, with a line-up featuring Warrington favourites Psyblings, Serratone, About Time and Smokin’ Durrys, from Cornwall, playing at The Auction Rooms on Friday.

Friars Live returns on Saturday with Liverpool band The Black Jackals headlining with support from Fez, Dirty Berns and Calling Alaska.

Described as a hard hitting rock band with an explosive sound that gives a nod in the direction of greats like Kasabian and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club you can’t go wrong.

Then on April 7 alternative rock band Beware The Wolves will be making an appearance at The Lounge in Springfield Street.

Time for that one is 9.30pm. Formed in late 2016, they will no doubt be looking forward to showing what they can offer before their debut appearance at Warrington Music Festival in May.

The Lounge has also recently announced its own music festival on April 16. Check the bar’s Facebook page for more details.
