A SONS of Anarchy and Peaky Blinders actor stars in the latest music video by Warrington electro funk band Winachi Tribe.

Tommy Flanagan, who was also in Gladiator and Braveheart, appears in the group's video for the new single, A Room With A Zoo.

It sees frontman Liam Croker transported into the desert to battle his personal demons, only to be rescued by Tommy's white-suited angel.

The film was devised during a conversation between Winachi Tribe's manager Harry Bridgen and his friend Tommy.

Liam, a former Bridgewater High School pupil, said: "We filmed up at his ranch in the Hollywood hills so it was a little surreal.

"He’s really good friends with our manager Harry and when he heard our music he really got behind the band."

Harry added: “I knew Tom was a fan of the band’s music so, being a bit cheeky, I asked if he’d be in a music video for them.

"I wasn’t even sure what the video was going to be, at that point - but Tom was between shows and had time so he said yes."

Harry's next call was to filmmaker Trevor Miller.

Trevor said: "Harry called and asked if I’d write a video treatment for his band.

"We were trying to lock-down Pierce Brosnan for a feature film at the time so I had the time while I was waiting for that to happen.

"I told Harry I would only write something for Winachi Tribe if I could direct it and really push the creative in a very unexpected direction."

The video was inspired by Jodorowsky’s The Holy Mountain, The Man Who Fell To Earth and Thin White Duke.

But there are also more subtle nods to Manchester's Factory Records and acclaimed British filmmaker Ken Loach.

Liam, from Latchford, added: “It seemed mental at first that we would go from Warrington to film in Malibu.

“Trevor wanted us to do dialogue scenes with Tommy then it was Tommy who suggested he lead me through the ‘desert’ on a white horse.

"Absolutely, mental. Still, I liked the idea of Ayahuasca and ‘cave paintings’ almost coming to life – especially for A Room With A Zoo – a track with musical references from Tom-Tom Club and New York Art-Bands.”

Trevor, who worked on the film Spring Breakers, said: “We started-out to make a music video with cinematic elements.

"But what we ended-up with is a short film with music.

"The band and individual members like Inder Goldfinger wrote score and made sound effects. They performed as musicians and actors and the finished product truly reflects our complete and authentic creative force."

Winachi Tribe, formerly China White, was formed after Liam met band member Antony Egerton at the Barley Mow.

They got chatting about their shared love of Pink Floyd and Primal Scream.

- Winachi Tribe perform at Manchester Academy 3 on Saturday. A Room With A Zoo is released on Friday, November 18.
