WEST London indie rockers The Vaccines have completed the headline bill for Liverpool's Sound City.

The band will top the line-up at the festival on May 22, with The Flaming Lips headlining on May 23 and Belle & Sebastian closing the festival on May 24.

Gaz Coombes, Roni Size and The Thurston Moore Band are also among the first wave of acts announced.

Dave Pichilingi, Sound City's chief executive, said: "We promised a massive and credible line-up this year and we delivered.

"The Vaccines, The Flaming Lips and Belle & Sebastian will play to an audience of thousands in one of the coolest cities in the world on the banks of the River Mersey in the unique setting of our brand new Docklands home.

"It does not get much better than that. Add to that literally hundreds of the best and brightest acts from around the world who will join them on the bill.

"We are so excited about the endless possibilities of our new festival home. It means we can offer so much more than just a live music festival.

"We can immerse our audience in an amazing setting with the best backdrop in the world and give them a totally fantastic experience."
