NEWTON 80s legend Rick Astley is to perform at Manchester Airport under the wingspan of a fellow 80s icon, Concorde.

The Never Gonna Give You Up singer will be belting out his hits at Fly Back to the 80s, a ball for the Teenage Cancer Trust, at the airport’s Runway Visitor Park on Saturday, September 27.

It is one of several fundraising initiatives being rolled out by The Runway on the Runway project aimed at helping raise £250,000 for the charity.

Rick said: “I was really honoured to be asked to perform at the ball and I’m looking forward to supporting a charity I really admire. Hopefully we can help smash the target and really make a difference to teenagers with cancer in the area.”

The star will also be reunited with his former producer Pete Waterman on the night of the ball.

Music mogul Pete will be a VIP guest on the night and discovered Rick 30 years ago.
