No Sex Please We're British - The Brindley Theatre
10:32am Wednesday 28th January 2009 in What's On
THE Centenary Theatre Company is to stage classic comedy No Sex Please We’re British at The Brindley Theatre in Runcorn.
The play, which will run nightly from Tuesday, February 3, to Saturday, February 7, was first staged in London’s West End in 1971.
Written by Anthony Marriott and Alistair Foot, it tells the story of assistant bank manager Peter Hunter and his new wife, Frances, who live above the bank where he works.
However, after an unfortunate mistake by Frances, they find themselves inundated with pornographic material from the ‘Scandinavian Import Company’ such as dirty postcards, films and enormous illustrated volumes.
Senior bank officials, Peter’s elegant and snobbish mother, and above all, the prim, respectable cashier of Peter’s bank, all become entangled in the violent events that follow, brought to a head by the arrival of two pretty girls from the same company, to provide their ‘special’ services.
Aimee Scally, marketing and promotions co-ordinator for the Centenary Theatre company, said: “We are extremely proud and excited to present No Sex Please We’re British.
"This classic British farce is sure to have audiences rolling in the aisles!”
Centenary is giving people the chance to win two free tickets to see the production by answering the question: Who wrote the play, No Sex Please We’re British?
