IT was a dance festival that transported fans back to the golden era of Motown’s glory days.
With authentic choreography, The Magic of Motown at Parr Hall was spellbinding from start to finish.
The show told the story of Motown through the music with nods to Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Four Tops, Martha Reeves, Lionel Ritchie and The Supremes.
Timeless classics such as Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, My Girl and All Night Long had the crowd dancing on their feet from the get go.
There were also a few ballads thrown in so everybody could catch their breath.
The highlight of the night, although there were many, was a homage to the late Michael Jackson with Ben, I’ll Be There and I Want You Back.
The crowd were never still, flocking to the stage as if the original artists were performing.
The cast, musicians, dance routines and costume changes were absolutely magic.
I’ve been to the Parr Hall on numerous occasions for a variety of concerts of different genres.
The Magic of Motown was billed as the ‘party of the year’ and it lived up to – and smashed – all expectations.
I would highly recommend this to everyone who wants a fab night out, both old and young.
People were still dancing in the streets on the way home.
