SEEING fanatical women being warned that they will be evicted from a performance if they don’t remain in their seats could be mistaken as a scene from 1960s Beatlemania.

But this was not Beatlemania but the less commonly known Jason Donovan mania. Fans filled the Parr Hall to see the 80s heartthrob serenade them with some festive favourites and his greatest hits back catalogue.

His show on Wednesday night was the last date of his tour and with the support of Warringtonians it would seem his Christmas came early. His voice sounded a little croaky to start with but there was no sign of any illness when the show got under way.

He jokingly opened by saying he wanted the evening to be the best two hours of the audience’s lives.

After seeing a die-hard and determined flock of fans frequently trying to bypass stewards to get within inches of the stage it seems for some it could well be up there as a lifetime highlight.

The audience erupted into song and cheer as he went through his hits from his Too Many Broken Hearts album and the popular Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat classic, Any Dream Will Do .

His merchandise store benefitted from his popular show as fans with Jason Donovan Christmas sweaters and T-shirts with his name or face branded on them were not few and far between.

Sadly long held dreams of seeing Jason rekindle with Kylie to sing Especially for You were not to be in Warrington but we can carry on dreaming for the future.

He opened with the crowd pleaser, Too Many Broken Hearts and gave the song a reprise for the encore.

A thoroughly enjoyable evening and one many of the audience’s teenage selves would have dreamed to be at in his height of fame.

Jason, can you come back soon?
