Destiny: The Taken King (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360)

CREATED by the original team behind the acclaimed Halo series and with a jaw-dropping community of 20 million players, Destiny has been a huge success.

But until now the game's expansion packs, including The Dark Below and House of Wolves, have been a let down.

Many players complained about the limited amount of new content for a high price tag.

The experience, which blends first-person shooter gameplay with a role-playing adventure, was also hampered with a confusing and infuriating levelling-up system.

Well it appears that developer Bungie listens to its fans because all of those issues have been addressed in The Taken King, a massive expansion marking a year since the game launched.

Firstly Destiny's bizarre levelling-up system – which was tied to the armour your character wears – has been scrapped for straight-forward experience through missions and bounties.

It makes the game so much more accessible and will likely bring wayward players back into the fold.

The second big improvement is the plot and story-driven missions featuring incredible cutscenes that could give Star Wars a run for its money.

This was an element of the game that was neglected at launch but now Destiny is finally getting the best out of its voice actors including Firefly's Nathan Fillion and Gina Torres and The Wire's Lance Reddick.
