BLUES musician Chris Bevington says he still feels overwhelmed every time he steps on stage with his eight-piece band.

Among his line-up is Jim Kirkpatrick who works with Whitesnake's Bernie Marsden, Scott Ralph who has recorded albums for Robbie Williams and George Glover from The Climax Blues Band.

In the studio, Chris also collaborates with 10cc's Paul Burgess and he has the honour of being band leader to them all.

"That was the overwhelming thing for me," said bassist Chris.

"First of all I was very grateful that these people who took time to join me and to be on stage with them is a real treat. It’s like a lifetime’s ambition.

"Sometimes I have to pinch myself. It did feel surreal when they offered to help me. But they’re all great musicians and lovely people."

Chris and his ensemble will be performing at the 10th anniversary of Lymm Festival's blues night at Lymm Golf Club tomorrow, Friday.

The 53-year-old added: "It’ll be a good mix of Chicago blues, beat music and rock blues but with the brass section it just brings an edge and lots of options.

"It’s a style of blues I’ve never done before especially with the upbeat big band feel and all the brass. That’s made it refreshing and exciting and I hope people like it."

They will be playing songs from Chris's debut album, which was released in 2013 and reached the top 10 in the blues charts, as well as new tracks from his upcoming follow-up.

Chris, who was inspired by Eric Clapton, Joe Bonamassa, Jonny Lang, Walter Trout, John Mayer and Aynsley Lister, said: "The first album was something I always dreamed of but I’d never had any experience before.

"So a lot of great musicians very kindly gave me their time it went from there.

"The only difference now is that the second album will be predominantly our own stuff whereas the first album was a mix of tunes that we all liked.

"Robert Hart from Bad Company was in the studio with us just the other week and recorded vocals on three of the tracks. It's been amazing."
