THE curtains will close on the 2015 season of Shakespeare’s Globe on Screen with The Comedy of Errors.

Theatrical performances from the London home of the Bard have been beamed to cinemas for the fifth year running.

And after an epic season of war and tragedy, this light hearted farce will be shown at Odeon in Westbrook on Thursday, July 9.

Basing his plot on a farce by Plautus, Shakespeare's play builds up a hectic tale of violent cross-purposes, slapstick and social nightmare.

Take one pair of estranged twin brothers – both called Antipholus – and one pair of estranged twin servants – both called Dromio – keep them in ignorance of each other and throw them into a city with a reputation for sorcery and you have all the ingredients for theatrical chaos.

The Comedy of Errors is directed by Blanche McIntyre, winner of the 2011 Critics’ Circle ‘Most Promising Newcomer’ Award and ‘Best Director’ at the 2013 UK Theatre Awards.

She has also written the script for the film adaptation of Hippopotamus based on the novel by Stephen Fry.

The adaptation stars Matthew Needham, Simon Harrison, Brodie Ross and Jamie Wilkes who spends more than two hours 20 of the production with his head in a turkey.

Also look out for James Laurenson from The Bourne Identity and State of Play.
