FANS of Flight of the Conchords will love getting their teeth stuck into What We Do In The Shadows.

Part of the team behind the quirky New Zealand series, including star Jemaine Clement and director Taika Waititi, have reunited for this kooky yet bloodthirsty vampire comedy.

The film celebrates and tears apart the conventions of vampire myth and legend in equal measure.

It takes the form of a documentary in which the fanged housemates have promised not to eat the film crew who want to lift the coffin lid on modern vampire culture.

The housemates include 'young' vampire, 183-year-old Deacon (Jonathan Brugh), anal-retentive 379-year-old Viago (Waititi), Eastern European 862-year-old Vladislav (Clement) and 8,000-year-old Petyr (Ben Fransham), a nod to Nosferatu.

All the vampires are from different eras with the humourously extravagant costumes to match and the film explores how they have adapted to modern life through their love of hanging out and clubbing.

So expect plenty of jokes at the expense of vampire lore, for example only being able to enter clubs if they are invited in and the perils of something as simple as eating chips...

But the undead group's dynamics completely change when they accept new vampire Nick (Cori Gonzalez-Macuer) into the fold.

Expect plenty of dry humour as Nick is joined by his human friend, IT worker Stu (Stu Rutherford), who seems completely nonplussed by the supernatural antics around him.

Also look out for a brilliant appearance by Flight of the Conchords favourite Rhys Darby as werewolf gang leader Anton. Fangtastic.
