THE Coronation Street Tour may have been open to the public for nearly 12 months, but it is still as popular as ever.

Hundreds of people – young and old - visit the famous cobbles on a daily basis and one of the highlights of the tour is the ‘grand reveal’ on to Coronation Street itself, where you can walk out onto the cobbles to the famous Corrie theme, a very surreal feeling for the show’s army of loyal fans.

Now, there is even more to see on the tour, including the interior of Rita’s Kabin, the famous newsagents which has been the centre of many dramatic, humorous and emotional scenes over the years.

It is also the focal point for many of the witty exchanges between the much-loved Rita and busybody Norris.

Out on the cobbles itself, a number of the exterior sets have been opened up so you can now take a peek inside Websters’ Auto Centre which has been dressed to replicate Kev and Tyrone’s workshop and Prima Doner (Dev’s kebab shop) giving fans the chance to have photos taken at the front of the counter.

The tour itself lasts 50 minutes and takes you behind the scenes of the TV studio where Coronation Street was filmed for more than 50 years before moving to a larger set at Media City in 2013.

Warrington Guardian:

It follows the path that the stars would have taken starting in the green room, going down the corridor with dressing rooms belonging to some of the show’s longest standing cast members, into wardrobe to see iconic outfits and then into the studio where filming took place.

A selection of interior sets are on display including Carla’s flat, the Platt and Duckworth homes and the knicker factory Underworld. There is also an opportunity to have an official photo taken behind the bar of the Rovers Return, although you can’t take your own pictures inside any more.

You can then spend as long as you like exploring the cobbles, nosing over the various garden fences and even walking down the ginnel.

The ‘Rovers Selfie’ is particularly popular and some visitors even lay down on the ground to re-enact the scene when Tina Mcintyre was pushed from the scaffolding by evil Rob Donovan.

Juliana Delaney, chief executive of Continuum Attractions, said: “Our visitors have been eager to see The Kabin interior set since we opened and I’m so glad we’ve been able to fulfil that wish for our valued guests and dedicated Corrie fans.

“The Kabin has been home to many iconic storylines over the years - it’s a privilege to be able to showcase yet another part of the Coronation Street story.”

Families visiting Coronation Street The Tour during the Easter holidays can take part in a children’s treasure hunt on the cobbles.
