LYMM Panto’s big brother, the Vaudeville Variety Show, is coming to the village for a night of burlesque dancing, adult humour and outrageous sketches.

Simon Plumb is staging the event to launch the Lymm Festival weekend with a bang on June 19.

The show will see the Lymm Panto cast reunited after the hugely successful ‘Best of Lymm Panto’ run last year and, with the variety show expected to be just as popular, people are urged to buy tickets fast.

Vaudeville Variety Show will be held at Lymm Rugby Club in Crouchley Lane with all funds going towards the Lymm Grass Roots Appeal to fund a new clubhouse.

Acts include unique comedy sketches, talented singers and, of course, Lymm’s favourite ventriloquist characters Charlie, Ken and little Jimmy.

The Lymm Panto Band will be playing live music throughout the night and the bar will be open until late.

Lymm Rugby Club president Simon says he is looking forward to the night despite describing himself as the 'world’s worst ventriloquist'.

The former comedian, who once shared Steve Coogan's agent, said: "This variety show promises to deliver the perfect mix of musical talent, a bevy of beauty and unrestrained hilarity that really will leave you amazed and bewildered.

"Vaudeville has never really died in my opinion and the variety style of songs and sketches really suits the summer marquee. I promise, if you enjoy our world famous pantos, you will love this!"

Simon played rugby in Lymm for about 20 years and was also in a Morecambe and Wise-style double act with his comedy partner, Norman Haddock.

Lymm Panto was launched in 1986 and when Simon wrote an adult version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves to raise funds for the club.

Vaudeville Variety Show will be held on Friday, June 19. Doors open from 7pm and the show will run from 8pm to 10pm. It is an adult show strictly for over 18s.

Tickets are £17.50 and can be bought by calling Fiona Osborne on 755590, emailing fiona@spa-group.co.uk or visiting lymmfestival.org.uk
