ENTRIES are now being accepted for Warrington's Long Shot Film Festival.

If you are an aspiring director your work could be considered for screening at the annual event and could even be chosen for an audience award.

The short film must have been made over the last two years and be no longer than 12 minutes. Entrants must also live or work in Warrington or have a connection to the area.

Long Shot Film Festival will take place in October this year with further details to be announced.

Organisers Tony Fennell and Myles Winstone are again teaming up with Culture Warrington to run the event as part of Warrington Contemporary Arts Festival.

Tony said: " We are back with a full festival showcasing short films and will also have an award for the film chosen by the audience.

"We will also be contacting schools and colleges in Warrington as we would like to them to submit films for an education showcase screening."

Tony got the idea for Long Shot after making a short film on a Super 8 camera for the Straight 8 film festival in London in 2007. It was one of 20 selected to be shown on the big screen.

The first Long Shot festival was held at Winmarleigh House in October 2009 with about 80 people and the aim of each event is to celebrate the enterprising spirit of DIY filmmakers
