MUSIC fans wore their hearts on their sleeves as Kerrang's annual tour rolled through Manchester on Valentine's Day.

The crowd showed plenty of love for a host of rock bands at Manchester Academy with a headline set by Bedford's Don Broco.

But first it was up to Beartooth to kick off the show. Despite people still filtering into the vast space, their energetic performance especially by ex Attack Attack! frontman Caleb Shomo made many fans' nights.

Playing tracks from their debut album 'Disgusting', the American band have a great potential and huge sound and it won't be long before they're back in a venue this size.

Continuing with metal-core, Bury Tomorrow initiated the first circle pit of the night, during their opening track, 'Man on Fire'.

The band sounded as powerful as they do on record and halfway through the band's half hour set, frontman Dani Winter-Bates impressed fans by promising to stand by the merch tables to high five everyone.

Bury Tomorrow are fast proving themselves to be leaders in the UK metal-core scene, and this is no doubt down to the domineering presence of the frontman as he pounded the stage.

Young Guns were announced as the secret act to be added to the bill at the last minute.

Curiously this meant they had a 15 minute set of just three songs to impress the crowd.

While ending their set with the anthemic track 'Bones', it was also an opportunity to showcase the new songs they have been working on in Thailand.

With their pop rock sounds, a band that seemed out of place when Kerrang's tour was first announced were We Are The In Crowd.

Led by Tay Jardine with a passing vocal resemblance to Paramore's Hayley Williams, the New Yorkers used this opportunity to showcase the band to a new crowd and proved they could compete with any other band on the line up.

With their second album finally coming in the summer, Don Broco closed the show in style.

Looking every bit the headliners, complete with CO2 gas on demand, the rockers gave a taste of their new record.

It was a tight performance with their sound and production polished. The night finished as strongly as it started with each band bringing something different.
