FOLLOWING a headline set at Manchester's Summer in the City festival and a tour with Warrington's Starsailor, indie legends James are coming to Delamere Forest.

The band, who wrote the hits 'Sit Down' and 'She's A Star', will be performing as part of the Forest Live concert series on Sunday, July 5.

Money generated from ticket sales is spent on protecting and improving England’s forests and woodlands for people and wildlife.

Frontman Tim Booth said: “Delamere is our local gig on the Forest Live circuit so a James performance there is long overdue and we’re very happy to be part of this cause.”

Since forming in Manchester in 1982, James have influenced a generation of British indie bands with 20 top 40 singles.

In a career spanning three decades, top 10 albums like ‘Gold Mother’, ‘Seven’, ‘Laid’, ‘Whiplash’ and ‘Millionaires’ have also racked up more than 13 million album sales across the world.

Since reforming in 2007, James have been a mainstay on the summer festival scene with appearances at Lollapalooza and Coachella in the United States, Rock In Rio in Brazil, and closer to home at Glastonbury, T in the Park and Isle of Wight.

They played a big homecoming gig at Summer in the City at Castlefield Bowl in July 2014.

James's announcement completes the line-up for a weekend of music at Delamere Forest between July 3 and 5.

Eccentric singer-songwriter Paloma Faith is performing in the woodland on Friday, July 3, following the success of her platinum-selling album, A Perfect Contradiction

Tom Odell, whose debut album ‘Long Way Down’ went to number one, is taking to the stage the next day on Saturday, July 4.

Over 14 years history, Forest Live has raised funds for a number of Forestry Commission projects from wildlife conservation to making improvements for visitors.

James will play at Delamere Forest on Saturday, July 5. Tickets cost £42.50 plus a £4.25 booking fee and go on sale on Friday at 9am.
