RELIVE the classic hits of the Temptations, Four Tops, Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Lionel Richie and The Supremes with a night dedicated to Motown.

Magic of Motown is celebrating half a century of iconic UK number one hit singles with its new tour, Reach Out, which comes to Warrington on Saturday.

Show producer Michael Taylor said: "Songs like Dancing in the Street, My Girl, Where Did Our Love Go, My Guy and Baby Love rocketed Motown to the top of the singles charts in 1964.

“Incredibly, 100 more Motown number ones followed worldwide.

"The Magic of Motown Reach Out tour brings to the stage 36 of these chart toppers back-to-back in one production.”

In 1964 Motown crossed the Atlantic to become a musical phenomenon in the UK.

The labels’ touring concert show, the Motown Revue starred Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, the Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross and the Supremes and Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, who visited the Parr Hall in September.

To mark the 50th anniversary of Motown's success in the UK , the Reach Out tour is hitting 100 venues across the country.

Michael, who developed the show in America, added: “Sadly, many of the original Motown legends are either no longer with us or no longer touring. The Magic of Motown is the nearest you’ll get to authentically capturing their incredible musical legacy in a live show.

“Our young cast is able to reflect the exuberance and excitement of these songs as they were originally performed.”

Equal care is taken to recreate the original look of the Motown stars on stage.

These were the days when artists' images were carefully controlled from dress and choreography, right down to their manners, for mass market appeal.

Michael said: "We’ve employed the services of top costume designer Claire Davis to create a fabulous selection of colourful costumes for the cast while leading man Andre Lejaune is responsible for choreographing the cast to perform the intricate dance moves for which Motown stars were famous for."
