AN 11-piece band, described as ‘surely the best’ live act in the country', are to return to Warrington after their sold-out show in November 2013.

Bellowhead will be returning to the Parr Hall on April 21 following their 10th anniversary concerts which come to an end this month.

Since 2004, the Oxford band have found a unique place in the British music scene by combining folk, funk, rock, world, jazz and classical music and they are renowned for their energetic live shows.

The group were also voted ‘Best Live Group’ at the BBC Folk awards five times and described by the Independent newspaper as ‘surely the best live act in the country’ so this is your chance to see what all the fuss is about.

Bellowhead formed 10 years ago after the band members met on the folk circuit. Their first gig was at Oxford Folk Festival in 2004.

But singer Jon Boden and drummer Pete Flood met in a much less rock and roll way – their mothers knew each other and were family friends.

Bellowhead made their breakthrough with third album, Hedonism, which sold more than 60,000 copies and is the highest selling independently released folk album of all time.

It was produced by John Leckie, who has worked with Stone Roses, Radiohead, Muse.

Their follow-up albums Broadside and Revival were also successful, both reaching the top 20 in the charts.
