TWO friends who met at Priestley College a decade ago have saluted the classrooms of their youth by naming their band after it.
Duo Sam Allen, from Birchwood, and Matthew Morley, from Orford, have been writing and producing folk, pop and rock music under the name Priestley for the past two years.
Now they are celebrating the launch of their EP, Start Again, with a headline set for the opening night of Salford Music Festival at The Dockyard on Friday.
Priestley’s backing musicians are drummer James Morris , from Great Sankey, bassist Mike Grainger, from Warrington, Padgate’s Joe Kelly on synthesizer and lead guitarist Paul Tallant from Liverpool.
Their music has also been accepted on the BBC Introducing Merseyside playlist.
