Featherstone Colombard Viognier, £7.49, Morrisons

Peaches and apricots are the big tastes along with hints of lemon and lime predominate in this pleasantly different white.

Viognier is an originally French grape that’s growing in popularity around the world and this example is from South Africa where Colombard is already popular especially when blended.

Alcohol is 13% and it’s good value.

French Burgundy comes in many forms and can be found at prices some of us would need a mortgage to be able to afford.

This one is in the bargain basement category and probably a couple of pounds cheaper than it would be if it wasn’t one of supermarket Morrisons’ own label brands.

It is entry level and basic but very tasty too.
