JOANNE Catherall is one third of the award-winning pop survivors The Human League.

Their accolades are impressive by any standard; eight top 10 singles including a simultaneous UK and US number one, numerous platinum albums, sold out concerts from the Albert Hall (1995) to the Hollywood Bowl (2006).

After 30 years of life as part of the most easily recognisable bands in pop how do you Keep Feeling Fascination with touring?

"It seems to get better as we go on. We get more professional," Joanne offers.

"Phil is composing a new album but it is not ready to be previewed yet so we thought - why not?"

On the recording front there has been widespread sampling of the band's extensive back catalogue by other artists.

Robbie Williams recently covered the classic Louise and they were sampled again by George Michael for his controversial single Shoot The Dog.

But when it all comes down to it the band are remembered for THAT massive hit.

"Oh we don't mind," she admits. "People pay £25 to see us and they would kill us if we didn't play THAT song."

"Seriously, I am really looking forward to coming to the north west - we always get such a good reception here," she said.
