ONE of London's premier nightclubs is coming to Manchester after organiser Danny McNamara, singer with indie band Embrace, decided the time had come to expand.

The Aftershow will follow on from the phenomenal success of Camden club Another Music = Another Kitchen to become what Danny hopes will be one of the highlights of the Manchester music scene.

"I always want a new challenge or I get itchy feet. I'm a bit like Challenge Anneka like that!"

"After London, Manchester is regarded as the place to play when you're trying to break a band," he told the Warrington Guardian.

"I want The Aftershow to be the place where bands who have always played London will want to come."

Danny had an overwhelming request for bands when he advertised on website myspace.com "Even though a lot of them aren't quite good enough for every 20 that aren't there is one that's fantastic," he said.

"Most of the bands will be local, interspersed with big name groups. They will always be live, I want to promote live bands and acts."

The Aftershow will be broadcast on XFM and Danny is hoping for some TV coverage too.

Danny, who is a regular on the northern quarter social scene in Manchester, said that most of his musical influences are from Manchester.

Bands like the Happy Mondays and Stone Roses hail from the area and have played a big part in shaping his musical tastes, Danny said.

"I'm really into a band called El Policia from Manchester at the moment. They're like Nirvana meets the Monkees."

After Manchester, the plan is to move on to Glasgow.

"I always want a new challenge or I get itchy feet. I'm a bit like Challenge Anneka like that!"

Embrace will meet in the new year to discuss their next step after enjoying a break.

"When we come back, we'll come back with a bang."
