"WARRINGTON is where it all began - I was at the grand opening of Allied Carpets in the late 80s and Leslie Crowther shook my hand. It all started there!"

Justin Moorhouse has come a long way since delivering carpets at the opening of a new store.

"I’ve been to the Ikea more times than I can remember!"

The comedian - most famous for his legendary tiger-faced character, Young Kenny, in Phoenix Nights - is heading back to Warrington in October as part of his newest stand up tour, Who's The Daddy?

"I love Warrington, I used to compere the comedy store gig there every month and it's a lovely little venue," he said.

"I've been to the Ikea more times than I can remember!"

His newest tour - "The best one I've ever written" - was inspired by his experiences as a father and is for mums and dads, people who aren't mums and dads and people who have mums and dads, he said.

It premiered at the Edinburgh festival last month where it was well received "apart form one or two, but I just ignore those".

The Stockport-based comedian currently presents a show on Manchester's Key 103 radio station, but says his first love is stand up comedy.

"I always had this feeling I wanted to do something creative," he said.

"I thought about taking up art but I can't draw. So then I wanted to be in a band but I can't sing or play an instrument," he joked.

"I can't remember making a decision, I just went to my first gig and it went pretty well."

From there things snowballed and Justin was cast as Young Kenny in Peter Kay's hit television show Phoenix Nights.

It was on the set that he met Archie Kelly, who plays Kenny Senior and Neil Fitzmaurice, who plays Ray Von - "The funniest people I've worked with".

Justin's tour, Who's The Daddy, is at the Pyramid on Saturday, October 20. Tickets are available from the Pyramid and Parr Hall.
