IMAGINE the scene: there's a 'frat' party, lots of girls and boys drinking beer and dancing to some jolly, sing-a-long rock song by some similarly young bright new things while some coming-of-age story unfolds before your eyes.
You have entered the world of The All-American Rejects. They are the kind of emo band you'll find on the soundtrack to all three American Pie films and its kin.
There's the piano ballad for the scene where the anti-hero breaks up with the objection of his affection. Then there are a bunch of pop rock tracks that, listen after listen, seem to blend into one.
The stand out track by some margin is the title track. It's anthemic like The Killers All These Things That I've Done and is a great, catchy torch song. It may be the sign of bigger things to come but, two albums in, TAAR remain a harmless, wholly unoriginal bunch of emo rockers.
