No. 81 Reserve Red 2014, £9.95, winecellarclub.co.uk
Two wines today with a special sporting link to the North West.
They are part of the Numbers Collection launched by cricket star James Anderson and a fifth generation family producer based in France’s Languedoc region.
This is a smooth blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Cabernet Sauvignon and 81 is his highest ever score – against India last year.
No. 11 Reserve Blanc 2014, £9.95, winecellarclub.co.uk
There’s a fresh lemon and lime zing in this blend of five white grapes including 65% Vermentino and 20% Sauvignon Blanc.
The number 11 is where Anderson has been used most as a batsman including when he scored 81 (see above). The collection also includes No. 54, a Rose.
That’s the world record number of innings he had before being out for a duck!
