The first of two whites from one of the growing number of online retailers where you are not forced to buy a dozen bottles at a time.
This one is unusual because it’s from Australia’s famed Hunter Valley but the alcohol is just 10.5%.
Early-picked grapes make the level low and help to produce a crisp lemony flavour that is ideal for summer.
Martin Codax Albarino 2013, £11.95, slurp.co.uk, Majestic
Albarino as I mentioned a few weeks ago is a grape from Spain’s northern Galicia region and the Rias Baixas area which is not unlike Viognier.
There are peaches galore here in a 12.5% wine which is named after a local 13th century troubadour.
The Majestic price is £12.89 although if you buy two bottles it is reduced to £10.95 each.
