OVER the top, ostentatious and outrageously pink – and that’s just Elle Woods’ many wardrobe changes and extensive handbag collection.

Legally Blonde The Musical is flamboyant, funny and fabulous.

If you are fan of the film version then the musical is sure to leave you practising the bend and snap.

While the smash-hit West End musical does not follow the film script religiously, the unexpected deviations from the Hollywood blockbuster are a welcome surprise.

But don’t fret – the best bits from the film have made the cut.

The musical follows sorority sister Elle Woods who loves to be pampered and is passionate about pink.

When she is dumped by boyfriend Warner Huntington III for a more serious girlfriend she puts down the credit cards and picks up the books.

Packing up her trusty pooch Bruiser, she bags herself a place at the prestigious Harvard Law School to try and win him back.

But she soon discovers she is capable of winning so much more.

Lucie Jones, who was a finalist in the 2009 series of The X Factor, steps up to the role of Elle Woods in her pink stiletto heels, naturally.

EastEnders actress Rita Simons stars as Paulette Bonafonte while Coronation Street’s Bill Ward takes on the role of Professor Callahan.

All three were perfect for their roles – but a shout out must go to the entire cast whose energy was infectious from the very start.

From cupid on roller-skates to real-life dogs, this show really isn’t like any other musical on the circuit. But it is fun, light-hearted and will leave smiling from ear to ear.

While this was the first time I had heard the songs, they seemlessly slotted into the script and I have already downloaded the soundtrack.

The show runs at the Liverpool Empire until Saturday.
