IT’S time to dust off those dancing shoes and board a beautiful steam train for a weekend of nostalgia at East Lancashire Railway.

Go back to wartime Britain at the East Lancashire Railway 1940s weekend this Spring Bank Holiday weekend between May 26 and 28.

The 1940s experience starts in Bury, at Bolton Street Station - 30 minutes on the Metrolink tram from Manchester city centre.

The weekend includes battle reenactments, live music and dancing, classic cars and military vehicles, Second World War plane and tank displays, luxury cream teas in the Observation Saloon and vintage stalls along the 12 mile line through the Irwell Valley.

The Spitfire will also be roaring across the Bury skies in a spectacular flypast on the Saturday.

Visitors are invited to dig out their old utility dresses and tank tops to be fully immersed back into the fashion of the fabulous and boogie away to The Rum and Cola Girls, George Formby Appreciation Society and The Bluebird Belles.

A one day experience is £18 for adults, £16 concession, £11 children or family day tickets are £45.
