SUPERHEROES are coming to the rescue of Express Youth Theatre in Warrington as caped crusaders prepare to stage their new show.

The seniors, for ages 11 to 18, and juniors, for ages seven to 11, are joining forces – like the Avengers – to perform The Superhero Ultraferno, a comedy by Don Zolidis at the Pyramid on May 12.

The story presents a series of sketches sharing the origins of the heroes and villains through the world of tights-wearing crime-fighters, from the 1960s TV Batman to the soap opera insanity of the Fantastic Four to the bizarre, German opera of Spider-Man.

Hollie Wimpenny, co-artistic director of Express Youth Theatre, founded in 2012, said: “Our members have thoroughly enjoyed working on this production, wanting to do something fun and light-hearted this year. We were fortunate enough to receive funding from The Aviva Community Fund to go towards costumes, props and set. So, everyone should expect a full spectacle.”

Tickets are £6 (£4 concessions). Call the box office on 442345.
