FOR many people, a good night out involves a show and a few tipples.

Well now NCM (Nicholas Clark Management) and The Ginstress are combining the two in a darkly comic cabaret called Mother’s Ruin.

The show, which takes its audience on a journey back in time in the company of sailors, barmaids and bootleggers to follow the rise of gin, comes to the Pyramid on April 27.

Mother’s Ruin features two of Australia’s rising stars, Maeve Marsden and Libby Wood, who will share tales of love and women, gin and secrets, tipsily making their way through 18th century London, New York speakeasies, the Australian bush and even the jungles of Peru.

The show, which was nominated for Best Cabaret at Fringe World Festival, is described as ‘a musical history lesson delivered with a garnish of dry wit’.

It also features songs from the likes of Amy Winehouse, Nina Simone, Martha Wainwright, Tom Waits, The Pretenders, Jessie J and more.

And if that’s not enough, Pyramid will be giving away a free gin and tonic with every ticket.
