MORE than 100 movies, including numerous UK and world premieres, will be showcased over four days for Manchester Film Festival.
The event will include films by the likes of Sean Penn, Jodie Foster, Nicholas Cage, Billy Bob Thornton, Pierce Brosnan and Kevin Smith as well as the last movie from the late John Hurt called Damascus Cover.
Manchester Film Festival will be held at Odeon Great Northern from March 1 to 4 but there will also be an advance screening of Slamdance founder Dan Mirvish’s Bernard and Huey followed by a Q&A at Home cinema and arts centre on February 26. Among the highlights is the international premiere of female-led western Painted Woman on March 1.
The closing film on March 4 will be the UK premiere of hard hitting arthouse film Nona, starring Kate Bosworth, who will also be attending the screening.
The festival also has categories for the likes of short films, music videos and student films while experimental movies will be playing at the Saul Hey Art Gallery in Castlefield all day on March 3 with free entry.
