PLAYING Destiny 2 is like being transported to another world. It is that immersive.

Like the original, the game feels vibrant and alive with potential thanks to its massively multiplayer online (MMO) elements where you can join forces with other players with ease.

Currently, at any one time, there are a staggering 1.2 million people blasting through missions, strikes and raids.

Made by Bungie – the team behind Halo – the first-person shooter gameplay is also finely tuned.

And the game’s role-playing elements where you can constantly upgrade your armour, weapons and skills makes you invest in your character.

If this all sounds pretty similar to 2014’s Destiny then that is because it is. As Bungie already has an existing and dedicated player base, the Washington-based developers have decided not to take the risk of starting from scratch with the sequel.

Improvements are subtle but intuitive such as being able to change missions and locations without going into orbit (a glorified, slow loading screen).

There are also new abilities like being able to summon cover to fight behind and it is easier to find and track ‘public events’ which are spontaneous little missions for big rewards.

The biggest change is the ‘reset’ which means the character you worked hard to hone into finely tuned warrior is back to square one to make the game an equal playing field for newcomers.

But if you are a Destiny veteran you can still play as the character you have grown to love and the transition is seamless.

Other improvements include the story which is not only more concise but more cinematic as you play as a Guardian, one of Earth’s last protectors.

And from treacherous caverns to lush vegetation on exotic planets, Destiny 2’s graphics are incredible.

A vast online game that has already had a huge impact on the multiplayer scene, this is a great game that will grow and evolve well into 2018.
