ONE of the biggest pop groups of the 1980s, Culture Club will be gracing the Haydock Park stage on Saturday, July 22.

The band, fronted by the flamboyant Boy George, racked up seven straight Top 10 hits in the UK and nine Top 10 singles in the US and won awards including the 1984 Brit for Best British Group and Grammies for Best New Artist and Best British Single for worldwide smash 'Karma Chameleon'.

Selling over 50 million records worldwide, the band's hits include 'Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?', 'Time (Clock of the Heart)' and 'Church of the Poison Mind'.

Open-air concerts at Haydock Park Racecourse offer a headlining performance by some of the world's top artists, with the action kicking off earlier in the day with a six-race card.

Other acts confirmed for summer 2017 include The Jacksons on July 7 and Olly Murs on August 11.

Jason Fildes, Haydock Park's general manager, said: "Culture Club are one of the true global pop acts of the '80s that helped define the era - and to have them perform at Haydock Park this year as part of our stellar Jockey Club Live line-up that includes Olly Murs and The Jacksons will be a real treat for racegoers."

He added: "The events are renowned for combining a fun-filled evening at the races with a spectacular evening concert in the informal and relaxed open-air setting of the hallowed turf. Having welcomed over 200,000 fans of live music to the events in 2016, this year is set to continue the success."

In addition to Haydock Park, Culture Club will play Epsom Downs Racecourse on July 20, and Newmarket Racecourse on July 21.

Tickets, priced £30 for adults and £15 for children, will go on sale at 8am on Wednesday, April 12 via thejockeyclublive.co.uk.
