ARE you a musician looking for a big break?
Jazz composer, bandleader and saxophonist Chris Potter is looking for emerging professional artists to join him on a short tour which comes to the Pyramid on April 14.
Applications are now open for the second round of Band on the Wall and Brighter Sound’s Jazz Directors Series. Those who are successful will form part of the 10-piece Inner City Ensemble to play in Warrington, Manchester, Morecambe and Bradford.
The aim is to provide opportunities for some of the UK’s most remarkable emerging jazz artists. Chris Potter is regarded as one of the finest jazz saxophone players in the world with a discography spanning more than 100 albums. One of his latest projects has been working with the Underground Orchestra.
He said: “I’m very much looking forward to this project, both for the chance of working with a group of exceptional young musicians and also as an opportunity to try out a batch of new music.”
The deadline for applications is February 26. Visit bandonthewall.org/2017/01/jazz-directors-series-2-call-musicians
