In a new feature inspired by the likes of Through The Keyhole, we take a look at picturesque properties in the Warrington area.

First up is Carole Hough who shows us around her canalside holiday home in Stockton Heath.

A COUPLE say they have had guests from all over the world after opening up their canalside house to people visiting Stockton Heath.

Carole Hough and Jeff Elms run a B&B in Anglesey but also bought a property in Water - bridge Court in 2006 as a base for when they visit friends and family.

Now they are also offering it as a holiday home and have been surprised at the results. It is believed to be one of Stockton Heath’s only holiday lets.

Carole, who grew up in Great Sankey, said: “Our guests so far have been a family from York - shire who like being by the wa - ter and an American family, and we have four Germans coming this weekend for four weeks who are working in the Gemini area.”

Jeff and Carole have recently completed a restoration project on the property.

This included moving the fire - place so that visitors face the canal view.

The upstairs pantry has also been transformed into a wet - room for the ground floor bed - room.

Carole added: “My favourite feature of the property has to be the view from the first floor lounge and decking.

“The view is right down the length of the canal towards the bridge.

“There is always something to watch – boats passing and mooring on the towpath, ducks and swans feeding and rearing their young. I love the feel of the village. It is such a vibrant hub and has a community spirit to match. There is no reason why Stockton Heath shouldn’t attract more tourists.

“It is ideally located for the transport links for Manchester, Liverpool and Chester and is a perfect village for people to be spoilt for eateries and shops.”
