THE oldest surviving 'wall of death' is coming to Daresbury this weekend.

Ken Fox's fairground attraction, dating back to 1929, will see stuntmen on Indian Scout motorbikes use gravitational force to ride around the inside walls of a vertical cylinder.

Organiser Richard Ashworth said: "The noise, the speed, the smell, the proximity of the bikes ridden to the top of the vertical wall only inches from the audience is a truly unique experience and one not to be missed."

It is all part of the Cheshire Steam Fair on Saturday and Sunday.

More than 40 steam engines as well as hundreds of vintage vehicles, classic motorbikes, military vehicles and vintage tractors will be on display and taking part in parades.

But there is plenty more to enjoy in the main arena including Ridgeside Falconry and Berkley Owls, who appeared on ITV’s Britain's Got Talent.

K92000 dog display team will also be putting pooches through their paces, demonstrating skills of obedience and agility.

New for 2015 is the reptile marquee where you can get up close with lizards and snakes and the Crazy Bears' singing, dancing and magic show.

Richard added: "This event is not only for the steam enthusiast but it also provides a fantastic day out for the whole family with plenty to keep the children entertained all day long.

"Try out the old time or modern funfair rides, quad rides, puppet show, a giant inflatable complete with slides and castles, climbing wall, face painting, parrot and owl displays, trampolines and much more."

There will also be trade and 'autojumble' stands and a craft, gift and food marquee.

Daresbury Steam Fair is held off Chester Road from 11am to 5pm. Gates open at 10am and close at 5pm both days.

Admission prices are £8 for adults, £7 for over 65s, £4 for under 16s and £20 for a family of up to five. Under fives are free. Camping and caravan pitches cost £40.
