WARRINGTON'S China White are to be featured alongside dance heavyweights like Paul Oakenfold and A Guy Called Gerald on a music compilation celebrating a cult novel.

The electro funk band's song, Plant The Seed, is to feature on the soundtrack to Trevor Miller's 25th anniversary edition of Trip City.

Miller's debut novel was released in 1989 along with an accompanying cassette by A Guy Called Gerald. Since then the book and soundtrack have gone on to become a landmark release in dance culture.

Screenwriter and author Miller went on to have a diverse career in the media, racking up more than 500 celebrity interviews and working alongside the likes of Kevin Spacey and Laurence Fishburne.

Trip City's 25th anniversary soundtrack will be released on Tuesday and China White's track features singer Julie Gordon and Ian Brown’s percussionist Inder Goldfinger.

Frontman Liam Croker said: "We've always regarded ourselves as a crossover band, so being featured next to these dance heavyweights means a lot to us.

"A Guy Called Gerald's 'Voodoo Ray' set the benchmark for dance music in the late 80s and Paul Oakenfold's production with The Happy Mondays was a big influence on our sound, especially his remix of 'Wrote For Luck'.

"So we're over the moon to be involved with Trip City's anniversary."

Meanwhile, China White have recently finished filming the video for forthcoming single ‘Time For Love’ which is due for release early next year.

The video was directed by Warrington-born filmmaker Adele Myers and co-stars the band's friend and collaborator Keith Allen as well as a cameo guest appearance from Alabama 3’s Rev D Love Wayne.

He said: "These lads are the best out there, pure uncut raw talent. I can promise you that they will astonish us all.”

China White are supporting Alabama 3 as part of their winter tour at Brundell Social Club in Leeds on December 4.
