Weekend columnist Lee Harman has been championing the Warrington music scene for two years.

The 26-year-old blogs about the town's artists and upcoming gigs on his Warrington Music [WAM] website.

THIS month I have seen Chas and Dave and Frank Turner at Parr Hall. Two acts I never expected to see in my hometown.

Both excellent in their own ways and even though last time I spoke, I talked about the lack of places in the town that supported live music on a regular basis, it is great to see Parr Hall continue to bring in well known names.

As we roll into the winter months, you could forgive bands for taking their liquor to a warm spot and hibernating until the the new year, only coming out for a top up or a mince pie!

If anything, there is even more music around to wet your lips with in the coming weeks, and really encourage you to check out the gig listings in your copy of Warrington Guardian's Weekend.

Highlights start this weekend at Dog House in Buttermarket Street with hard rock quintet, One Last Run, from Manchester coming to town.

As always, entry into the venue is free, however the one litre steins are worthy of your considerations!

One Last Run are supported by Target:Renegades, who I unfortunately missed out on seeing when they supported Blast Tyrant on their EP launch in May.

You can pick up their CD from Head record store in Golden Square, alongside Roughneck Riot's new album, Out Of Anger.

If you like your your rock loud and distorted you can do it all again the weekend after as Dientes play a very special Halloween show on Saturday, November 1, at Dog House.

I've worked with the band a few times and wholeheartedly recommend you download their album, Numbers and Stations, at dientes.bandcamp.com on a 'pay what you want' offering.

They are supported by The Electric Mafia who are about to drop their debut album, which we will be sure to be reviewing over on the [WAM] website.

Saturday, November 8, sees Christopher Fox, better known as one half of Kindest Of Thieves, entertain the crowd with his unique blend of 50s rock & roll and American roots at Dog House. As one of the most talented guitarist I know, he is one not to miss on his way to the top.

Another band on our radar at [WAM] recently is Cassette which is made of trio, Adam and Al, previously of long gone band, Z-List Tears, and Maxim.

Their track, 'Distaste' was WA12 Radio's track of the week in September. You can find them in Warrington on Saturday, November 15, with support acts to be confirmed.

Next time I will be talking about my highlights for the year and who you need to look out for in 2015. Music is alive in Warrington.
