A MANCHESTER band is celebrating its love of vinyl with a special album launch at Warrington’s Lizard Inc Records.

Clockwork Radio will be performing at the Legh Street store on Saturday, September 27, at 1pm.

On the day, fans will be able to get hold of the vinyl edition of their debut album, No Man Is An Island.

Drummer Dan Wiebe, who grew up in Culcheth, said: “A personal ambition of mine was to have something I’d helped write on a record.

“Luckily, we’ve had the opportunity to press the album on to 12ins, meaning I can retire a happy man!”

Clockwork Radio began life as a side project for guitarists Rich Williams and Iwan Jones in North Wales.

They caught the attention of Radio One with their first single Lost, hitting the airwaves after its release in November 2007.

Dan, aged 25, and bassist Sam Quinn joined the dance rock band when Rich and Iwan relocated to Manchester two years later, and they found inspiration from the likes of Talking Heads, Band of Gypsies, Tame Impala and Jack White.

The album was recorded in just two days at Manchester’s 80 Hertz Studios and is made up of a mix of new tracks and songs that have been on their live setlists for years.

Dan, a former Culcheth High School student, added: “It was recorded very quickly in a live room, in order to take a snapshot of our live sound and to capture the character of the shows.

“The idea for the album was to have a raw and honest record of where we are as a band.

“It seemed out of place and quite strange to record like this, considering how most music is recorded these days, but to us it’s what makes for some of our favourite albums.

“It’s a very exciting time for us as a band and we’re really looking forward to sharing the record with people.”

The band, whose single Feel It Up was named one of the tracks of the year on BBC Introducing Manchester, have already performed in France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Denmark, and their burning ambition is to make and play music full time.

Dan, who teaches music in Warrington, said: “The dream is to be able to make a living from doing entirely creative things – writing, recording, touring.

“My favourite thing about making music is the social side of it. In every aspect, you’re in contact with people.

“From writing, gigging, making videos and artwork to recording and travelling, we’re always meeting new people and having new experience.”
