SPECIALIST affordable housing developer Mulbury Homes has handed over the first properties of a development of 78 new affordable homes in Warrington to Your Housing Group.

The homes, on the site of the former George Howard Scrap Yard in Folly Lane, are being made available for affordable rent by the social landlord.

The £6 million development features a mix of two and three bedroom mews-style homes, as well as one and two bedroom apartments, to meet a variety of housing needs.

Greg Mulligan, a director of Mulbury Homes, said: “This valuable development provides contemporary, sustainable and energy-efficient housing for local families in an area where demand is high.

“We worked with Together Housing Group to bring to fruition homes that residents can be really proud of.”

Stephen Haigh, executive director of growth and development at Your Housing Group, said: “This development enables us to offer much-needed quality homes for affordable rent to people in Warrington.

“The range of the properties available allows us to cater for people at different stages of life, from single people, young couples and families through to those who are looking to downsize.

“This scheme is part of Your Housing Group’s £150 million affordable homes programme, which will deliver nearly 1,400 new homes across the region by spring.”

Manchester-based Harbur Construction started work on the homes in 2013 and the final properties are to be handed over this month.
