DEDICATED to giving back to the areas in which it operates in, Miller Metcalfe has netted £250 for two charities who helped the family of a young boy with cancer.

The estate agents take pride in serving their surrounding communities and the people who live in them and want to use their passion for giving back to those around them to help make a positive difference in the north west.

That is why Vanessa Heathcote, branch manager for the Culcheth office, organised a Miller Metcalfe charity netball match for a family whose son had been diagnosed with cancer.

Now that 12-year-old Harvey Davies has won his fight with cancer and been given the all clear, his parents, Stuart and Claire Davies, wanted to raise money for the two charities which provided so much help and support in their time of need: CLIC Sargent and ChildFlight.

The two charities help families who have suffered such heart breaking news and contribute with things such as mortgage payments, utility bills and even paying for a final family holiday.

On Sunday, March 29, the Miller Metcalfe team participated in a two-hour session of training and going head to head in a 40-minute match to raise money for the two charities.

Team captain and organiser Vanessa said: “It was an extremely fun and successful event, which was held at Smithills School in Bolton, who very kindly allowed us the use of the sports hall completely free of charge.

“Not only was this a great team building exercise, it was great to know we were doing it in aid of these two fantastic charities, and we raised a total of £250, which was an amazing result.”

Harvey’s mother Claire added: “I thought the event was a great way of raising money and was something a bit different.

"It was great fun to watch the teams getting so involved and taking the time out of their personal lives to raise money for the two causes.”

The charity netball event was organised in conjunction with an upcoming fundraising charity ball, which is already sold out.

Held at Rendezvous 1 on the East Lancashire Road on Saturday, May 9, there will be a four-course meal, auctions, raffles and many other fundraising events taking place.
