IT was all smiles at Birchwood High School on GCSE Results Day with 63 per cent gaining five or more A* to C grades including maths and English.
Data also revealed that 24 per cent of school leavers achieved three or more A* to A grades.
A total of 77 per cent of the year group gained an A* to C in maths, 72 per cent in English and 71 per cent in two science subjects.
Head teacher, Anne Bright said: ‘We are so proud of all our year 11 students for everything they have achieved and they certainly have lots to celebrate.
“Their examination success is a direct result of their tremendous hard work and the outstanding support they have received from staff here and from their parents/carers over the years.
“Our learners come to us from a large number of primary schools in the town and we extend our congratulations to every single one of them.”
