THERE were sighs of relief and lots of congratulations in order as pupils discovered their GCSE results at Lymm High School.
Almost half of all students secured one or more of the highest grades at GCSE achieving an A*, and a quarter achieved three or more A* or A grades.
In BTEC courses, there was a 100 per cent pass rate, whereas, in other equivalent qualifications, 89 per cent of students achieved merit or distinction grades.
Executive principal Tarun Kapur said: “Despite a good deal of change at the school in the last year the students and staff have really risen to the challenge to produce some creditable results that enable them to move on to the next stage of their education.”
Myles Jones, who achieved one A* distinction, three A*s, three As and three Bs, was relieved to pick up his results after a long wait.
The 16-year-old from Lymm said: "They are as good as I hoped they would be. I am now looking forward to starting Lymm Sixth Form to start something different."
