A 'DISGUSTED' resident has accused the council of losing her postal vote application form – but the authority denied receiving it.
Great Sankey resident Andrea Dobson, who is currently in Cornwall, said she and her husband, Peter, sent their application form in the same envelope.
Peter has submitted a vote after receiving his papers – but Andrea will miss out taking part in today's General Election.
She said: "Warrington Borough Council has lost my application for my postal vote.
"When I enquired after not receiving my papers, they told me they had never received the application form.
"Both myself and my husband applied for the postal vote and sent it in the same envelope, he received his papers.
"I am disgusted that I have lost my right to vote on such an important day.
"What makes things worse is that I have not even received my normal polling card so they have received the postal application and then lost it.
"I always vote and with it being such an important election I am cross that they took that right away."
The council has responded to the criticism.
A spokesman said: "Our elections team has received thousands of new postal vote applications in recent weeks.
"All envelopes are checked carefully and applications date-stamped.
"We can confirm that we received Mr Dobson's application.
"It was received just before the May 23 deadline and we immediately e-mailed him an acknowledgement.
"However, no application from Mrs Dobson was received by our team.
"As we did not receive Mrs Dobson's application before the statutory deadline, we are unfortunately now unable to help her with this matter."
