WARRINGTON South's Independent candidate has 'pledged' to scrap tuition fees and give students a Rolls-Royce to travel to lectures.

John Boulton, from Latchford, has announced the humorous changes to his manifesto a day before the country goes to the polls for the General Election.

The 54-year-old said: "In line with the late in the day election strategies of the Conservatives, Labour and the Liberal Democrats, I feel obligated to add to my initial campaign manifesto so that no voter feels they have been excluded and therefore feels they cannot vote for me on polling day.

"NHS – I obviously promise to commit to funding and by this I commit to build a fully staffed hospital for each person in the Warrington South constituency.

"Education – not only will student fees be cancelled, students will be given £20,000 a year to study, plus a Rolls-Royce, with a chauffeur, to get to and from lectures and a free fidget spinner of their choice.

"Housing – build a new house for everyone for free and each to have a hot tub.

"In line with the other parties these last-minute changes to the manifesto have all been fully costed – whether they can be fully funded is a totally different matter.

"But it's late in the day here on the campaigning front and this funding problem will be addressed further down the road once in power and when the electorate will have to accept that sometimes some things are simply not possible – however much they were promised as definitely going to happen."

Tory David Mowat is defending a 2,750 majority in Warrington South.
