PUNTERS in Warrington have gambled more than £27,000 on tomorrow's General Election.

There have been a total of 2,600 bets across the town placed with Betfred, which has its head office in Birchwood.

The biggest one has come from a Warrington North resident, who risked £500 on Labour to win the most seats in the country while the odds were at 16/1.

Tory David Mowat is defending a 2,750 majority in Warrington South, while Labour's Helen Jones looks to protect her 8,923 majority in Warrington North.

Both are strong favourites to retain their seats with Betfred.

Labour are priced at 1/5 to win in the north and the Tories at 1/16 to claim the south seat.

The Conservatives are priced at 3/1 to win in the north, Liberal Democrats 80/1, UKIP 200/1 and the Green Party at 250/1.

In Warrington South, Labour are 6/1 and the Liberal Democrats 50/1.

The Tories are 1/14 to win the most seats in the country, with Labour at 8/1 and the Liberal Democrats at 750/1.

Theresa May is 1/6 to remain as Prime Minister following the election, Jeremy Corbyn 9/2, Boris Johnson 40/1 and Amber Rudd 100/1.

A Betfred spokesman said: "We were wrong with Brexit, Trump and Leicester City but we are convinced we will be right this time.

"We think the Conservatives will win but the issue is the level of how many seats they achieve.

"There were original landslide predictions but after the manifestos the election has become much closer."
