WARRINGTON South's Independent parliamentary candidate is urging the electorate to 'consider the advantage of having an MP not tied to a mainstream political party'.

John Boulton, from Latchford, believes he can cause an upset when the country goes to the polls on Thursday.

The 54-year-old has revamped his website in the past week to give voters the chance to read up on why he decided to stand – and what he hopes to achieve, if elected

He said: "The reason for standing in the first place was to offer some choice for the residents of Warrington South after the tactical voting antics of the more mainstream parties came into play.

"However, I always felt this election would not be the landslide for the Conservatives that the experts were predicting – the Labour Party is clawing its way back into contention.

"But significantly, the Labour leadership is now making overtures to the SNP in Scotland about forming a coalition Government post-election and this backs up my thoughts that a coalition of parties and people would always be the outcome of this election.

"I'm asking voters in Warrington South to consider what could be out there for you on a national political stage if you dare to think like the leaders of the main parties and accept that a minority coalition is going to happen once the election is over.

"Consider what would happen if your elected MP was warmly, but begrudgingly, invited to be a part of these coalition talks because their vote would carry House of Commons business?

"It's not that far-fetched and imagine what Warrington South could be given back in return – no tolls for the Mersey Gateway and a guarantee on A&E NHS services remaining in the town maybe?

"There are big political moves being played out at the minute and there is a real and serious opportunity for Warrington South to benefit if it is strong enough to consider the advantage of having an MP not tied to a mainstream political party – an MP that reports to no one but who acts at all times in the best interests of the voters and not the best interests of a single party or party leader.

"This is a big, big opportunity that is unfolding."
